The hotels listed in that thread are:
All American Inn and Suites 419-663-1922 Best Western 419-663-3501 Econolodge 419-668-5656
i've done some homework. Apparently, amerihost has been bought out or changed its name to "All American Inn & Suites" in Norwalk, OH. I've noticed in the past SO's and this one, most everyone has no problem staying in a hotel that has prices as follows:
Called as of 7:30pm on wednesday, june 24th: ----------------------------------------------- $149 for friday the 14th $189 for saturday the 15th $99 for sunday the 16th (20 or so rooms left available) ----------- TOTAL: $437
Now, just a quick search at my favorite travel site, orbitz, i've come up with this: http://www.orbitz.com/App/ViewHotelSearchResults?null&retrieveParams=true&z=317f&r=1lf&z=3181&r=1lh&lastPage=interstitial#
That link is sorted by distance to 1300 state route 18 (Norwalk Raceway Park) in Norwalk, OH. At orbitz, the SAME hotel is $108 per night for all nights. Going through orbitz, the price change is from $437 NOT including taxes directly through the hotel to $352.77 INCLUDING TAXES through orbitz.
This is just comparing the All american inn & suites hotel. there ARE other cheaper hotels. For instance, the Best Budget Inn South (mid page on the link) is much cheaper. It is about 12 1/2 miles from the drag strip, but for $68 a night for a total, including taxes, of $228.70, how could you go wrong. From the "amerihost" that everyone loves, don't mean to be an ass, but that's a savings of $208.30. Yes, i'm a penny pincher, aka ebayer. Thought i'd share my homework with you all. Comments?
