#54708, "RE: 1g SMIC intercooler mounting" In response to In response to 0 Aug-24-03 02:14 PM by XtremeRS
Here are a few of my pics.
The top bracket on the 1G will line up with a hole in the underside of the framerail. I just used a normal nut/bolt to hold it on. I also fabbed up one metal bracket to bolt to the 1G SMIC and then to the car for added support. I removed the fog light housing, and black vent cover in the front bumper(97+ eclipse bumper), and made some air deflectors to direct all the air coming in from those 2 openings, into the IC.
Engine bay view: You will have to loosen up the fuse box and get some room to take out the plastic liner under it. You also will prob have to cut out part of the black metal fuse box bracket to get room for the top pipe. The top pipe needs to be coming out at around a 45 degree angle to clear the fusebox.
At the bottom of the metal flashing, you can see the long bracket i made that connedcts to the car and other IC mounting piont.
I will be making a set of custom welded IC piping for this setup, if its mounted like this, and you have a HRC turbo kit, if you are intersted. Check out my post in this section. It will look 100 times better than what i have on my car now..
