<<I can run the car and it will idle fine except every once and a while it will surge to 1500 and then return to about 1k. if i give just a lil gas i can rev it to 4k but no more. If i give a lot of gas, it will choke itself down and almost die. This damn car is running waaaaaaaay rich, the exhaust tip is coated in soot and it is blowing it onto the driveway too. if you chage throttle position at the throttle body you can hear it loading up with fuel and trying to die. there are no vaccuum leaks or undone electrical connections that i can find. This problem started all of a sudden out of nowhere. My hypothesis is a bad o2, what is yours?>>

What would make you think that those problems could be caused by turbo failure?
To me it sounds like plugs, wires, coil pack or all of the above. Change your plugs and wires and let me know what happens.
