#12946, "RE: upper honeycomb questions" In response to In response to 3
You can NOT remove the upper honeycomb in either 1 or 2G DSM's. You may remove the bottom ones in both or even the side ones in a 2G. In some cases the idle will be affected by removing the sides in a 2G but I had mine out before with no issues. Removing the upper honeycomb in either car will without a doubt cause idle problems and may cause it to run either too rich or too lean at partial and WOT because the air will not be moving straight past the sensor but will be causing a sort of tornado inside the square box that the sensor resides in. If you buy it, go to a junkyard and pick one up. If that doesn't solve the idle problems, then check the other things. A partially open throttle plate will cause idle surge (idle goes up and down in pulses) If the idle is too high or too low, adjust the BISS but that will only solve too high or low of an idle. Hope that cleared a few things up.
