#9448, "rear wheels grinding"

Hi, this is my first post here anyways im having some probs with my car that im looking for help with. I have a totally stock 96 eagle talon esi 2.0 w/auto trans. Ok I just got my car out of storage for the winter and am having some prblems with the rear wheels. When I drive it they grind like crazy and it feels like I have a square tire on. So I jacked it up figuring that my wheel bearings were shot (I just replaced them a year ago). But my problem seems to be that my parking brake is rubbing on the rotors. So I took everything apart except I cant get the parking brake cable out of the drum brake assembly, Does anyone know how to get the cable off so I can take the whole assembly off? Also does anyone have any other ideas what could be wrong
