#4005, "RRE SS Brake line Install"

OK guys you asked for it. Here is the proceedure for the rear brake line install. If you haven't the $$$ for rear disk conversion, parts(kits) just not available. You will need the following tools Metric and Standard 17mm wrench,18mm wrench,10mm wrench, 10mm Brake line wrench(prevent stripping brake line nut),3/8 wrench, Pliers, oil to loosen some of the Brake lines. wire brush, Brake clenaer, and plenty of rags(its gonna be messy. (while your at it also change(flush) the brake fluid.

Now this procedure worked on my 99rs NO ABS. I'm not sure if the Brake line install is compatable w/ABS systems. Or this procedure will work on the other eclipses. NOTE: This may definitly will void Manufactures warrenty..... OH yeah this post is for info only don't sue me if you mess it up....

I'm gonna focus on installing the rear brake lines. The front lines are pretty much easy to install. OK now first step jack up the rear end of the eclipse place it on jacks. Remove the tires. Now the back of the rear brums must be cleaned, remove any mud etc. Now the trick to installing the SS brake line, is use a 10mm wrench remove the bleeder screw from the drum (place aside for now remember don't get it dirty). Now look at the entire brake line--starting from the brake drum to the upper control arm to the fender well of the car-- THAT ENTIRE SECTION WILL HAVE TO BE REMOVED.... RRE Brake line will NOT be connected to any suspension piece of the vehicle for support. use a 3/8 wrench to loosen the brake fitting on the drum, next use a 17mm wrench and a 10mm flared wrench to loosen the HARD brake line on the inner fenderwall. next remove the brake line clip on the inner fender well-- save it. use a 10mm wrench to remove the brake line support bracket on the curved upper supension piece. Now once the old brake line is loosened just remove it--place it aside.
NOW get your new ss brake line -- The bolt end is first installed to brake drum assembly, tighten/torque to manufactures specs. Run the brake line straight and connect the "nut" end to the fenderwall of the car (use a 18mm wrench instead of 17mm). Get one the brake line clips. Use a pliers to slightly flatten finger ends of the clip. Install the clip to secured the new brake line on the inner fender wall. At this point, you will notice the brake line sticking staight out and connect straight to the inner fender well(thats how it should look). reinstall the bleeder screw, Bleed the brakes. repeat the procedure on the other side.
What you should have left is one brake clip, 1 10mm screw, brake line bracketw/brake line clip , Brake line hoses(rubber, hard line). If there should be any extra pieces redo the proceedure.
GO enjoy your newly installed brake lines. just remember go easy on the brakes untill you become more accustimed to firmer pedal.
