With the right offset, we can fit an 8.5" wide wheel up to 17" in diameter. After that, rubbing becomes a problem. You could raise the car slightly like some of the autocrossers do, it works fine as long as you run rattle-your-teeth-out stiff springs or super thick sway bars...
