#30418, "RE: Early Rear Disc Brakes" In response to In response to 5
If you read through the '95 factory manual, you will see references to large diameter and thick rotors on the rear of the AWD cars. They are thick enough to be vented. The front/rear brake fluid pressure was also different for this specific model (indicating some hard parts are different). If you search really hard through brake rotor manufacturer web sites, you will find rotors listed for the early build date '95 AWD with similar dimensions to what the manual states. The pictures show them as vented, for what that is worth. I spent some time researching this last month as part of a possible brake upgrade. I gave up before I was able to confirm if the spindles and calipers are different. I figured that I better focus on getting my car running before I worry about stopping it.
