Yes you should be pulling timing for anything over 15psi. If the motor does encounter knock, the knock sensor will detect this and pull timing. With that said the ECU will protect your motor to an extent but always pull several degrees of timing to reduce knock which will hurt your power.

You could also run MS for spark control
