as you have found the pin #'s dont mater since there are sometimes subtle changes from year to year.
the wire color though will guide you to everything when it sez white / red (W/R) white would be the base color of the wire with a single red stripe going down it. its not dotted or broken up in anyway.
if your still concerned that you have the wrong wire, print out all the pin-outs you can find and make a chart of each year pin-out ylu find and the wire that it sez. if they match across the board you have found the right one. then its just a matter of locating it on the harness.
if you have an UNCUT / UNMODED ECU harness, i found that removing the plastic protective cover and striping back about 6" of the tape wrap will expose enough of the harness to make a difinitive diagnosis. then take some rubbing alchol and clean the harness wires, this will remove any grease and grime from the harness and make the colors easier to find.
if your really reluctant to go severing your harness, use bullet conectors on the cut ends so you can reattach them if you mess up, this also makes the use of a custom "Jump or MOD Harness" easier to use. and if you need to remove the system it can be returned to stock fairly easily.
