so i go to remove the afc like you said,

I was thinking about this yesterday on my way to work (yes, some of us actually think about others' problems while we're away from the board and even jump on just to check into things like this), and I figured there might even be a way to disconnect the SAFC without cutting power to the unit so it would still have the SBR settings in it. This way, you wouldn't lose them, but it's probably too late for that now, eh? Hope you at least tried to write them down for later just in case.

it seemed a little quicker, until i hit 4k, and it wont go past it, it forces the rpms back and just stutters everytime it hits 4k.

Sounds like fuel cut to me. (Anyone else concur?)

i have the cel 14 for the map sensor, so maybe its bad, or maybe they cut the wire?

I think they have to run the MAP signal through the SAFC in order for it to work, but I don't have direct experience in this regard. Terry? In the meantime, you might pull the MAP and check it out. Make sure it's not clogged with any grime or shit. I think you can clean it with Brake-Kleen, but search on MAP cleaning before you actually do that to be sure.

i only disconnected it from the harness, not the whole computer, i dont even know where to begin on that. any ideas?

That's a bit more than I can go into. I've never installed one. do you still have the packaging for the SAFC? Even so, you might search SAFC + install here to see if anyone posted up in the past asking which wire to connect where. Maybe that will give you some insight on whether this is really the issue.

I'm sure Terry can help out a bit more with this one. Don't feel bad. I happen to know that even Ludachris, the founder of DSMTuners asked for help recently with just how to disconnect the SAFC. If I get a chance, I'll check out that thread (it's in a private forum over there you can't see) and see if I can get any better help on the subject if Terry doesn't beat me to things.

EDIT:
Maybe www.vfaq.com/mods/gvr4_afc_instructions.html will help you out a little bit. It's for a 4G63T, but the SAFC will need many of the same inputs on a 420A. Maybe reading through this will give you some idea what it's tapped into at this point.

Good luck.
