I agree. I have also heard of this before, too. I think the logic behind this was that the expansion of internal parts and the lubrication/sealing could be affected by the oils' properties--in terms of its break down point--which could ultimately result in leaks, or that the sythetic varieties tend to "mask" some minor impections and vice versa. And, I also believe that switching oils from regular to synthetic in higher mile engines is not recommend. The most important thing is that OIL/FILTER is changed regularly.
