After spending 20 min a piece scrubbing carbon buildup off of intake valves and 4-5 runs each through the hot tank for my head and manifold to get the carbon buildup down to MANAGABLE levels I'm quite happy with running EGR blockoffs and a catchcan. Also, when I put a turbo on again I won't have to worry about my intake temps suddenly spiking from hot exhaust suddenly being sucked in causing unwanted detonation.

That's why people do the EGR blockoff.
