Well you need to have the air go into the intake, because the ECU performs a test of the EGR. It closes off the idle air control valve(IAC), and opens up the EGR a bit. If the ECU detects that the needed air is not coming from the EGR, then it trips the CEL. So if you route that line from the head to the exhaust, it does no good at all..waste of time..
