That bolt on my '99 RS is 12mm, and they are both nuts.
Three tips I found:
1.) The clip inside the cylinder can be a royal pia, SOoooooo.... put the cylinder in a vice where the flap of the cylinder is pressing on one side, and the end of the rod is pushing against the other. If you can get a buddy to hold the cylinder against the vice, that's best. And it went in VERY easy (spent ~30min before that trying).
2.) Use a spare M10 bolt and put it through the clutch pedal & the rod end of the master cylinder, then simply push it back out from the other end w/ the pin
3.) Take that @&$%%^@#*($^ spring-loaded washer on the pin to clutch pedal OFF!!! There's no way I could get the hole to even show to even attempt to put the pin through.
Yes, I know this thread is 2yrs old, but my Master Cylinder went out & was using this for reference... and I'm 6'4" and don't fit so well underneath the dash.
