#2816, "Gradual power loss"
May-24-04 04:51 AM by Aggression

I have noticed over the last year that I have lost a lot of pull through each gear. Very gradually the power seems to be leaving. I was wondering if its mainly the transmission. I have no idea and no prior experience that would allow me to know what the problem might be, and how to remedy it.

I was told about a year ago that I needed to replace my transmission, but I only had 60k on it at the time and I am not hard on it by any means. The car is a 97 GS and I got with 37k on it about 2 and a half years ago.

Just wanted to ask you guys before I took it into another garage and get rapped or lied to about what I need.

I do know that I will need to replace the either the throw out bearing or it might be the spider gears from further research if the trany needs work, because it grinds like a bitch in the mornings when I fire it up for a good 20 mins.

Thanks
