ive had jensen, rockford, pyramid and several other brands. none of them handled the RMS watts they boasted and none of them were impressive in sound quality or even loudness.
it seems like EVERYONE and their grandma has alpine or audiobahn these days.
I can tell you from my own experience, i bought 2 MTX Thunder 8000's (12's) , i believe 1,000 watts max
those thing sounded great, were louder than everything else, and could really take a pounding. i had a total of over 2,500 watts RMS running those 2 for over 6 months and they never had a prob.
considering ive had my last 2 cars broken into 4 times total now ive lost thousands $$ in stereos so i dont even have a nice one now. im waiting until i have limo tint and shaved doors. having a garage now also helps
