#2056, "Help me pick out wheels :)"

Okay, I *think* I decided on Quantum Teks, but I don't know whether to pick the S-11 or the S-08. I like both of them, and they are the same price for 18s... So, does anybody have opinions???

S-11

S-08

Okay then, give me some input. I need some serious help with this I don't like chrome and for some reason I hate 5-spokes/5-stars (I guess I think they are too common?). About once or twice a month I change my mind on the style, size, finish... See, I already don't like that S-08 anymore, but I do like the S-11 on the Spyder. I wan't something different, but not too ... crazy, you know? The OZ wheels I have right now will be back on my '90 Talon soon. So, I wouldn't even consider getting new ones if I didn't have to.

Also, is there much of a difference between 17s and 18s??? I have 17x7.5 and it rides very hard with the H&R springs. Would 18s make it even worse or would it be about the same? I imagine it depends on the tires, but I'm just wondering...

Yeah Jen, no offense but I don't really like either of those wheels. I like the ones you have better. I'm not too keen of chrome wheels either. I seem to lean toward anything that is multispoked. Mine are 10 spoke Enkei. They make a lot of nice wheels and I also like TSW. It's up to you though.

I agree, personally i like the 6-10 spoked rims...
I think they provide a balance between the ammount of space inbetween the spokes and the amount of metal there is...
(did that make any sense????)

the ones i like best are called se7en. cant remember who makes them tho. i like 6-8 spoke wheels the best. the wheels i have are chrome split 3 spoke. not exactly what i would pick out but my friend sold them to me for $300 and i couldnt pass up the chrome and the fact that they are 8 inches wide.

speeking of wheels...if any one knows where i can find another wheel like mine let me know cause one of mine got curbed pretty bad. (prime 16x8 chrome split 3 spoke)

Jen, you should go for the Konig tantrums in my opinion. I really like those rims, and the design of it makes it look larger than other rims with the same size...

sorry Marcus, i will have to disagree with you. The tantrums are played out. Every body has them or a imatation of them. Jen Might I suggest the new Konig wheels (the ones that looks like the Stock GSX wheels)...nt sure what they are called...Otherwise to answer your question, ilike the S-11

i have a similar wheel to the tantrum 8 spoke 17" and it seemed like a couple weeks later every jackass with a honda had the same wheels! i originally got them cause no one had them around and they look great, i had to oder them from a local shop cause no
one had them in stock. what ever happened to trying to be original. i think im going to sell them and get 17" volk TE37's, they've been out forever and i still dont think they havent been played out and nobody i know that drives a honda can afford them(quoted at $900 canadian each but i think thats too much) then i'll get some advan RG's for my 91 civic SI (should have never given it to my sister)

the tantrums not really as played out as some wheels got (racing hart c5, axis touring cup, tsw imola or any other multi-spoke, but alot of people have the tantrum imitations in that nasty painted-silver look. there are about 12 ripoffs of the tantrum for a reason, its a good original design by konig and it looks huge. they are preiced pretty well too. (compare $450 for a chrome 19" to $800 for a volk te37) the te's are awesome though

Actually the TE37's are kinda played out too cus a lot of people have the fake imitation white ones, that also say Volk Racing on them. I'm beginning to like the Racinghart white lightweight rim that looks kinda like gsx rims (forgot if its the CP-08 or CP-35). I wouldn't put white rims on my car though cus it wouldn't go with the color...

How about the ADR M-Classics? Or Konig Rush? I relly like both of those. But if I had my choice I would get TSW VX1 18"x8" with Pirelli P7000.....God that comb just makes my mouth water.

does anyone like the konig rated r's?? the white ones? the 20's are retired, (i sold them to some black dude in the swap sheet for $2500) and just got a set of rated r's (along with a shitload of extra money burning a hole in my pocket). i was really having a hard time dealing with the fact that i couldn't hit a bump faster than like 1 mph on them. they were also ALOT heavier than the konigs. they're cool, but the only thing is that the color white doesn't exactly match my paint, i never thought of that, either. let me know what you guys think. another question: now that i've got the $$$ - turbo or nitrous??

So, what now? You guys can't imagine how many hours, actually days I've spent on looking at wheels... The problem is that I will want to get new ones after like a month or two.
Here is the other problem: I won't HAVE to buy new wheels untill I buy a 20G for the '90 Talon, but I CAN'T get a 20G untill I buy new wheels (unless I put the stock 14" back on which would look awefully funny...). And to buy both things at the same time will cost quit a bit

Which Talon looks better with those wheels???

all of those new enkei's are gross. the top pic (enzos) are old but ive never seen a set anywhere, but you probably cant afford those if you were planning on some 2-dollar Quantum Teks. with your color, get white rims, they would look nice, or chrome if you like it. the fake te37s are decent. (they dont say volk racing and rays engineering on them...they say Yolk Racing and Roys Engineering) how much of a cheap shot was that decision. yeah get you some roy's yolks, haha. the konig rush is also one of the most rediculous looking wheels of all time, the shit is wretched! and eclipse804, i disagree, i think white rims would look awesome on your grey car, especially 18s. hey trickedeclipse...what were you saying about 20s? did you have a set? any pics of them on your car? oh yeah and the ADR M-Classics are tight, i was about to get a set of those in 20" but decided on a turbo instead.

I already said that I do not like Chrome wheels at all, they remind me of those shiny $20 plastic caps at Wal-Mart lol (just my opinion by the way). I like white and I thought about getting white ones already. It's just that the selection isn't very big.
Geez, Cyan, it's not like I'm poor! I didn't pick them cause they are cheaper wheels, but I like some of their designs.
Any comments on my Talons? On which one should get the new wheels?

i like enkei's racing wheels a lot cause of their light weight at a good cost and you know its a quality name you're getting but i've seen those kind of rmis from the post above this one too much.
the konigs that look like the gsx wheels are called the sub-zero's, there's a group buy on them going on now acutally forl like 600 or so. they have some pretty nice nwe designs www.konigwheels.com

i'll see if i can get pics of mine up, there pretty differnt.

Well i wasn't going to post anything because of the ignorant response by one (<ahem>, if you don't like the wheels, say that you dont' like them, don't go into they're cheap, ugly, etc etc, somebody could have those wheels and think that they're tight and not everybody has the same taste)Besides the fact that I did not want 400 lbs chrome wheels and that everybody and there mom's HONDUH has tantrums, or look alikes down here that's what I chose the wheel i have, however I will give you the fact that it has the tantrums give it the illusion that it is a bigger rim than it actually is. BTW, Jen if you want a pic of the wheels on my car, let me know, and I'll post the pic on here so that everybody can see what the cheap 2 dollar quantum teks look like on a eclipse!!

For those of you who showed constructive critisism: Thanks, for the ignorant person who didn't: grow up

Hmm I think that white rims look good on white cars and blue cars. I haven't seen them on my color yet, but I guess I'm just not used to it. I have seen gunmetal and black rims on my color car and they look really good if you want the sleeper look. But personally, I'd like silver rims on my car...

Ya grneclipse (<- what a name? ), I'd really like to see a pic of your car . I don't know what's wrong with... ahm... you know who Ya, I didn't want to make a big deal out of what some people said, cause I think everybody is allowed to have an opinion. But "ugly shits" or whatever was kind of rude... Anyways, I know I said that already, but I really like the S-11 on the Spyder . And for the price? What's wrong with paying $149 for one wheel??? It's not that cheap. With good tires that adds up to like $1200 plus shipping. In a magazine I saw Konigs, I think even the Tantrums, for $1099 17" wheel/tire set...

just because a certain person happens to have wheels that almost no one likes doesnt mean another persons opinion should be disregarded simply as "rude"

if i can speak my mind openly (assuming i am "a certain person") then dont you think you should do so as well by not playing games...if you disagree with me, say you disagree with ME, not with "a certain person"

the fact remains, the wheels look pretty horrible. my opinion (along with everyone elses) was asked for, so i gave it. just because you have those wheels (whether it was because you like them or were just broke at the time, or got sponsored by QT) does not mean you should get offended by my statements. grow up, why do you care what i think of your wheels? (mine in fact, are chrome like you said, larger than yours, yet they weigh less than your non-chrome QT Alloys) so the statement about chrome being heavy is a misconception. do you think the chrome plating weighs more than 16 ounces? it doesnt.

MY OPINION HERE is that any rim smaller than 18" on our cars looks small. im not criticizing owners of 17's its just that a 17 on a honduh equals a 19 on an eclipse. and i also dont like QT wheels, they are priced low for a reason, you get what you pay for. if you are going to get small rims that are cheap, go to the extreme and get some 15inch primes or eagle alloys from sears. because a 15 and a 17 inch QT will get the same negative reaction from people, so you can save some money in the process by doing this.

#2094, "what facts are you using?"
In response to Reply # 37

First off, a very "certain" person needs to get his facts straight before running off at the mouth. obviously since "everybody" (you know all 3 or 4 ppl who actually said they did not like the wheels) thinks these wheels are so hideous than that means nobody else in the world likes them either, that would be like saying "everybody" thinks your chrome wheels are horrible since John99Rs said he didn't like chrome.

BTW my wheels are 18 x 7.5 and they are no heavier than the silver tantrums in 18 x 8 (24.9)and like you said, I have no qualms about you not liking my wheels, I mean I think your wingless car is just as hideous as you think my wheels are (everything else however is pretty nice, oops might want to have that water spot checked out, previous owner might've had an accident and just wel......i think i've said too much <it happened to my bud>) anyways, I'm not going to let this blow out of proportion, I know a few ppl on the board that you have "pissed" off with your choice of working so all I'm saying is be careful of what you type. Better yet, let me cut and paste something from the person who wanted an OPINION on the actual wheels herself

"Ya, I didn't want to make a big deal out of what some people said, cause I think everybody is allowed to have an opinion. But "ugly shits" or whatever was kind of rude. I don't know what's wrong with... ahm... you know who"

All in all CYAN, I could give a rat's @$$ what you think of my car, my wheels, me. Don't get me wrong, I like your car, your wheels, (but not your rear section or wingless at all) but i'm not saying it's a piece of 2 dollar monkey crap am I?

<sigh> well someday when my dad is also a Insurance salesman, maybe I can afford to chrome out some big, really really light, chrome tantrums, so that it can slow down my turboed RS. SEE YA!

sorry but i havent seen my insurance worker dad in about 3 months, i dont live with him and he doesnt pay my car payment, my insurance payment, my modification costs, or anything else and neither does anyone else. ive been working the same job for 3 years at minimum wage to pay for my shit. (i like the job) if youve done the same then good for ya, if not then just go ahead and slap on a phat "sponsored by mom and dad" sticker on the car somewhere.

the puddle was actually from driving around with the hatch partly open in the rain. (where else would it have come from?) theres no exterior holes.

about being "wingless" i used to be into the rice, i had a bigger veilside rx7 style wing on my car, until i realized how laughable it was and got some taste. its all clean now. i do like the wing you have so this time i actually AM NOT criticizing, but by no means do i like it better than the clean look i got now. its like it or hate it with wings and its typically younger, honduh owning types that like wings.

if your insurance worker dad gets some cash to give ya, have him pay to remove the spoiler, because if you cant afford rims to "slow your car down" like mine, at least youve still got a 20lb wing on the back of the hatch to not only add more weight than my wheels did, but also to wear the hatch lever down like my spoiler also did, so that after about 2 years you wont be able to open the hatch without using the rear keyhole anymore.

i did read all the posts here and saw jen's comment about my statement, do i care? again no, so i wont give my opinion to a few people on this board in the future. those people include you, her, and anyone else who cant handle REQUESTED! criticizm of their car or potential mods due to an inferiority complex or some sort of envy if that is what it is.

whew...and finally, if my car is quote "cheapass", then what is everyone elses? ive spent more money on mods than anyone on this board at over 20000 and counting (except maybe lotalon?), so it is by no means cheap. if you dont like it, its unattractive, not inexpensive.

the world does not revolve around 2gnt.com
with that in mind, the 3 or 4 people on this site who dont like the QT alloys are not the only demographic to measure. i was referring to the entire poplation of car owners, because at this point, the vast majority hates QT Alloys. if they didnt, you would actually see some rolling around. count konig. axis, racing hart or any other reputable wheel manufacturers earnings and they would all dwarf QT's in comparison. there is a reason for this.

LAST EDITED ON 20-Mar-01 AT 03:56 AM (PST)

When I said "cheap ass" I realy should have said "Dumb ass". Cause if you spent $20,000 on your car (minumum wage) and your car still does the 1/4 mile in just under 20 seconds due to the extra 1000 pounds of bondo and interior paint, then "dumb ass" is more of an apropriate term.

P.S if you would have only replied to the question like you did on your last post, this thred would have been maybe 4-5 long.

Cyan, there is a diffence between opinion and insult. Since you can't differentiate, why can't you do somethign called constructive critisizm. I can almost gaurantee you that 10 out of 10, ppl on the board, in person, down the street, or whatever likes to see what they have been degraded. If you dont' like it fine! Say "I dont' like them" or even "They are ugly". Ok i am done...no more posts, Cyan I got no hard feelings at all, I said I liked your car, wheels, but your posts are just sometimes NOT-Likable! I'll talk to you later

P.S. I understand that other wheels sales financial records have shown to greatly outdo QT but........
1. How long in comparison have they been open?
and
2. Bringing back another topic of being "played out", Yeah I could've gotten some konigs, racing harts, VOLKS, but think about it like this, how many ppl do you actually see with your wheels, (or imitations) don't lie..... I got my wheels not because I was broke or got sponsored by QT (maybe?), but because I happened to like the design on paper, in person however, it looked a little bit different. Peace

You are so right but the only veiw they (cops or bondo cars like yours) is my rear bumper and 5" exhaust tip. Note: my 5" exhaust tip is so I have no back preasure cause I am turbo, you probly have a 10" tip with all of your 105 HP to the wheels. You must have to stay off the roads cause there are laws against cars that cant go faster than 40 MPH. They are more of a hazard than kids on scooters. (you know those are the things that fly by you on the sidewalk) while you are at WOT. LOL
Its all good though, you can make your car fast, just push it down a hill.
By the way whats the 5" clearance you have between your fenders and tires for? 4 wheelin!

I know both sides to this argument are cool peeps, so there is no reason to have these types of posts continue. These posts are starting to leave the realm of opinions regarding issues (rims) and go into the realm of "personal."

Please cease and desist OR resume this type of conversation in email.

-----------------------------

It's pretty obvious that some people are from Florida and others who are in Cali are gonna have different opinions on what looks "nice." At least you dudes don't live in my pathetic state and city where all these dimwits ride around in lowered CAVALIERS and GRAND AMS with big ole rims, big exhausts, and even BIGGER stickers that say..."CAVALIER." (what A surprise)

Some of us just need to be more political in the manner in which comments are made towards what you may find fashionably incorrect rims and others need to be a little more thick-skinned when someone is stating an opinion towards a rim-style...(not you mom)

Sometimes, when I look at a rim, I may think it's damn ugly, but when I see it on an eclipse....I think....well, it's still damn ugly..LOL JK..

You are so right jason.
Cyan I was just "bustin your chops" dont take me seriously, its just that I wanted to see how sometimes "opinions" tend to sound like put downs, and I think myself as well as some others have or had felt that you tend to "put down" more than you do express your opinion. Oh and I hear you you bro! my car looks too stock, thats why I think I will be getting sponsered for a Wide body kit to make you happy. that is of course as long as you dont think that is ugly as SHIT! lol J/K

Well I just put in my new wheels (konig tantrums 18") I know some people think that they are played out, but where I live I think there are only 2 cars with them on and one of them is mine! I really like the way they look, I guess to each his own. If you would like to see some pics let me know I will see what I can do.

silver tantrums whodatt?
actually grneclipse i am the only one in my city (of 300,000 people) with tantrums or tantrum knockoffs. i saw two at a car show about an hour from my house, one was an accord on 17" silver and the other was an accord on the same wheels as mine, 19" chrome but those are the only two sets of tantrums i have ever seen in real life. that girl was featured in a few magazines, and she is the car that beat me out for best of show.
but i didnt say i liked the S-08s, i said if i had to choose between those two, id pick the S-08.

Now I'm gonna break down and cry....

No, Just kidding...

Sorry, Cyan, I did not mean to offend you or anybody else and I hope I didn't. Yes, I got a little upset cause I asked EITHER S-08 OR S-11, but I can handle it I really like the Tantrums (and they are as cheap as the QTs when you can get a good deal), but I also like 100s of other wheels, like the QTs...

Enough about that, I'll put the stock 14" back on... no flames, I was just kidding :-P

Only one more thing: Can we all be friends again?

5 inches between the fender and the wheel? BAHAHAHAHA! i think you forgot a decimal point in there, i cant fit a finger between the two. you must be looking at older pictures.

bondo? i have 4 square inches of it on my front bumper and a small amount smoothing in the rear sheetmetal. less than one tube of bondo actually, so not quite 1000lbs of it.

but all the "kids on scooters" and what not meatphors...really mature. and entertaining to all the children on this site im sure.

widebody kit? of course its not ugly...good luck with sponsorship cause theres only 2 production WB kits out there. are you aiming for kaminari or Qu Whees's people?

i have no problems with you expressing your opinions about speed vs. style and yours and my lack of either, but youre just making brainless similes that make you look stupid, not intelligent, i on the other hand was stating my opinion about a product. what kids on scooters and cars with 105hp/40mph speeds have to do with expressing an opinion is beyond me. should i just start repeating "I know you are but what am i" to keep up with your level of writing?

this thread was just starting to get interesting as i thought we had an intelligent argument going where we could both express our opinions, but MWC, your last thread is not opinion, its just wasted time and space. like jason said, lets end this. from now on, i will leave some sort of "chickenhead advisory, explicit content" warning on my opinion posts for those "men" around here that act like little bitches when someone criticizes them (or since you say i am ridiculing, then ridiculing it is)

maybe i should pursue a movie critic career where a sarcastic sense of criticizm, which i clearly have, tends to add to the humor and effectiveness of the critic himself.
oh well...
(ill get that turbo kit before summer ends hopefully, so while im pulling hard slightly behind the other turbo NT's, i will look as good as i do now whilst doing it.

HAHA, its been fun man!

Look Cyan, if you read back throughout this whole thread, it started becasue of "You" and your lack of choice of wording and "No" I'm not whining like a little chickenhead man that's acting like a "bitch" but reread your last post. What are you doing? You can dish out the critisizism but when it turns around, you can't take the heat either? Could it be you, yourself have an inferiority complex? You have to understand, that if somebody critisizes something about another person, they in turn will try to stand up to it. And why must you critisize anyway? This post started out as an opinions on those TWO choice of wheels, and if your opinion on it is that you don't like either of them, simply state so. DOn't go and make "brainless similes that make you look stupid, not intelligent" such as comparing my wheels to 2 dollar pieces of shit either, when in fact they aren't just 2 dollars. Stupid facts such as,

"i was referring to the entire poplation of car owners, because at this point, the vast majority hates QT Alloys. if they didnt, you would actually see some rolling around"

If you have any viable info on this besides the fact that "NOBODY" is rolling on QT's, than your biting yourself in the ass, because you yourself said, in your BIG city of 300,000 only 2 ppl have your rims....so does that mean NOBODY is rolling on Konig's?and that everyone HATES it NO....it doesn't. Unless you go and survey every damn person in the U.S. than you dont' have anything for a fact, just another Opinion (no matter how worthless it is).

And also, maybe you should consider a career in Movie Critiqing, where you would Most definitely earn more than minimum wage, so that you can throw another 20g's into your car,

I'm outtie, so let this die and even though you could give a sh*t for anything else anybody have said, watch your choice of wording in the future for us "insecure, infereior complex, chickenheaded, men that whine like bitches" You know, just the folks who don't like ppl calling their cars pieces of shit, you know how that goes don't you?

Don't have the stock Eclipse anymore
Just a stock Gsr now,

That is pretty much what was on my mind grneclipse, but you beat me to it.
Cyan The bottom line is there is a differance between voicing your opinion, and shitting on other people. You I quess do not know the differance. I am starting to see that, cause when the shoe was on the other foot, you got realy pissed off, but did not even see it. So I do not know if it is due to "age" or just unwilling accept that. At any rate I am out of here, and will not becoming back to take part in this lesson that was not learned, so dont waste anymore of the space replying. If you realy want to continue this hit me up on e-mail and we can stop going in circles. I just hate to see what is portrade as being a "brother and sister" type board, that is geared to help eachother take this kind of tone. I am done!
