I just recently got a house, and right down the road is the Phenix Drag Strip. We a buddy of mine have a 2001 V6 Mustang stock and I know they are around 200 hp, but they should be heavy. If I run against him would it be close and what else would I need to beat him?

Well, from experience, you will need a 5 speed, a CAI, some exhaust mod, and an underdrive pulley. I think that will do it. I had an automatic, and it just can't be made fast for a reasonable amount of money. My automatic blew up, conveniently enough, and I did a swap. Night and day difference! -=B-=
Dude, Boeing called. They want their wing back.

The new V6 mustangs have enough power to make it a challenge to race them. But, I don't think I've seen a new V6 at the drag strip. People just don't race them very much I guess. The pre 98 V6 models are no problem though

The older V6's are definitely no prob for you guys! Why is it all the kids with V6 Mustangs think they have a frickin race car?? Pathetic..gives Mustang owners a bad name! Beat those V6's and tell um to go buy a REAL car!!

>Unless you go 5spd..or turbo..your dead. Is the mustang >auto...or 5spd? The auto's run low 16's and 5spd's mid >15's...
wouldn't my car be faster with a 50 shot nitrous setup instead of going with the 5spd tranny swap?

yeah, but where's the fun in Nitrous. Also I found that the best way to take a 2001 V6 mustang is to go through a wicked curve. their heavy and will kinda take the turn wider. Although it also helped that my buddy had a girl in his car, and my passenger was used to watching his freinds back home race.
1995 RS new engine, I think I'm just going to leave it stock now.
