I didn't really like the hood until I figured out it was a shaker. Now I think it's cool.
I know this is going to the mac daddy of all corvettes...but I think that GM-Chevy-Team Corvette is going to have to reel it back in a little bit. 100k is going to be a lot for the typical Vette buyer to swallow. Corvette has enjoyed the success it has had for the last 10 years or so because they brought A LOT to the table for a very reasonable price. Now they are going to bring a just little more and jack the price 30K?

Agreed. It's often been said that the biggest thing the Vette has going for it is supercar performance at reasonable prices. If they cross the 100K mark, they will still sell, but they will shift the demographic well into the stratosphere.

I think it had to do more with competition with the Viper. With the 08 Viper bringing 600 horsepower to the table Chevy had to do something to match it. Unfortunately adding forced induction adds a lot of complexity to what used to be a simple engine. Then *poof*. Up goes to the price. Edit: And all the carbon fiber.
Like Driggs said, I think this is going to push the demographic out too far.
Does anyone know if this is going to replace the Z06 or is just going to add another model to the lineup?

Its not going to replace it. Just add to the Corvettes. said to have 620+hp/600trq. or so said the wright up in motor trend. The mag grabs my eyes when I saw the crazy hp numbers GM was spitting out for it.... now for a tear down. throw in BIG BORE sleeves and a stroker. with some even higher flow heads, may as well add a 50 shot to it...... have fun with dreams of that.

I'll bet this vette won't be able to avoid the gas guzzler tax
It's great that they are making a vette with this much power, but it's defenitely overkill and certainly a far cry from a "regular" vette. The regular vette has 430 HP (436 with the new exhaust) and has far more power than the average buyer of the car will know what to do with.
