Any body have any experience with the Russel Steel brake lines. were they perfect fit? any probs with installation? I was browsing thru a Summit racing catalog noticed a set of Russel Steel brake line kit advertised for around $80. is it a deal???? Another reason i unable to get a hold RRE Sales by phone to order the $79 brake lines.

I have RRE's brake lines on my car, but I don't know if they are Russell or not (don't have a name on them). They fit perfectly, just like OEM. I would either try RRE again or go ahead and get them from Summitt. If they are Russell, they're gonna fit. the lines are in stock. The reason being: Russell just got bought out by Edelbrock and they were not making any products for a while. They will back order everything and it could take a long time to get them. I ended up cancelling my order(through Keystone-distributor)and just got a hold of RRE. RRE makes these line kits themselves or has someone locally make them. The fit was perfect and worth the pain it is to get through to them. BTW: call RRE when they first open....not nearly as busy RRE, Russell, Earl and goodridge are all good lines are an exact fit.

there are rubber lines going to the rear drums. They even look similar to the rear factory lines on the GS model; but they will not work. The back of the drum(RS) has a smaller hole for the line to thread into and the stainless brake line kits(fwd)are all made for rear disc brakes. I found this out when I took my lines off and compared them. This was one of the factors that made me consider doing the rear disc conversion. Replacing just the front brake lines would not get rid of that spongy brake pedal. I did the front first and drove like that for a few days while I finished assembling the correct rear disc conversion parts.
What do they look like? Every drum brake system that I've seen use's hard lines. Even my Mitsu service manual shows hard lines being used on the rear drum brakes on our cars. they look like the same rubber lines that come off the stock GS/GS-T/GSX. They connect to the hard line in the upper forward part of the wheel well and then connect(screw into)to the back of the rear drum(instead of caliper). This is where the internal hard line begins again inside the rear drum itself(I think). I think the drum rubber lines are actually a bit longer than the disc lines(cannot remember). You did confuse me a bit a while back when you said our drums only had hard lines going to the drums in a past discussion. I did not understand what you were talking about. You can take everything I said to the bank my friend.....I did the RS drum to rear disc conversion myself. No manuals involved...hehe Glad I know who to contact when I need something looked up that is not in my Chiltons.
