ok i need help! me and my dad got my front disks turned and put new pads on. the prob is when im backing up when the brakes are cold i can hardly stop. i have rear drums and the shoes are fine(they were just adjusted about 5k ago). what is going on?
That sounds about right. When braking going backwards almost all the weight is pressed upon the drums which have a weaker braking surface area than the front. The fronts also become almost useless because of the chassis' weight transfer. The mass of the car shifts off the front wheels and dives towards the rear onto the poor performing drums. Also make sure your drum adjustment plugs are on preventing any material from gathering inside the drum and shoe assembly. It will leave debris between your drum and shoes while braking, which will make the braking performance of your drums weaker.
