Have you checked the fluid level?

If you changed the fluid you might have air in the line. I had a leak in my return line and after I replaced the hose, it made a horrible grinding noise. I had to sit there and turn it from side to side for almost an hour and keep adding fluid until all the air was out and it finally stop making the noise. Hope you figure it out.
