Nothing and everything. Since its not a honda, 1.8 V6 MX3,240sx ect there is no common swap. Sure a 4G63 could be fitted but might as well swap in a toyota engine for that matter or anything else you like because there is nothing in common. Be the first to install a 2.4L chryler engine a la neon (of cousr it will have the header on the firewall. Seriously if your gonna spend the kind of money that is required for an engine swap you have more than enough to make the engine it came with fast (turbo kits, extensive headwork ect are cheaper than swapping in anything but a 420A). Come on dude go over to the turbo/nitrous section. (Still drunk on a monday eveing. Peace out)
My engine is shot and I gotta get a new one. So I'll get something that I want rather than put new 420A in. That way I won't have to do all these mods to make it faster cause it will already be fast. Know what I mean? Either way I gotta get a new engine. thanks
Dude, get another 420a. The power potential for this engine is far superior to just about any other engine, except for maybe a VTEC or vvti (I think?), and that just wouldn't be worth the trouble. Unlike most other 4 cyliders out there, the 420a is operating WELL below it's potential in our cars. For the amount you would spend for an engine swap, you could easily have a new 420a power plant pushing 300+ HP.
The 420a takes it's design cues from such sources as Lotus, Ferrari, Porsche, just to name a few. That's all I should have to say.
I once saw a really radical Eclipse motor conversion. This guy shoved a 350 small block in there. It smoked anything out there that I ever saw him race. Pretty damn expensive to do if I remember correctly. Need to replace almost everything in the car. (i.e. tranny, computer, axles, suspension, etc.., etc...). Would be unique though....
Dogg, my engine's shot too. I'm looking at 2g just to fix the damn thing. Do you know how many bolts the engine has cause I found a JDM that might fit with the right # of bolts.
Any and ALL motor swaps in an eclipse are going to be either way to difficult or way too stupid to achieve. If you SERIOUSLY want an Eclipse hybrid, and you don't car about how difficult or how crazy the instal might be, here are a few suggestions
1. passenger seated EVO motor (4g63)with a GS Spyder tranny 2. Avenger v6 motor (6g73) with an avenger or 3g eclipse tranny 3. Japan spec galant motor (6A13) with ? tranny 4. gst (4g63) motor (or any 4g series motor just about) (with custom piping and all the stupid essentials) with GS spyder tranny 5. 3kgt motor (6g72) with 6g73 motor mount and 3g tranny 6. 3g (6g72)motor and tranny
notice....these are just a few ideas to think about, and I personally consider all of these options either WAY too costly, WAY too time consuming, WAY too unreliable, WAY too big, or WAY too stupid to do. your best option would really be to get another DSM spec 420 and build it for turbocharging.

the 2.4L stratus block with the NT Eclipse/Talon Head. That would be better than any other swap and the best part is that our ECU could still control it. That is something to seriously think about if you you do an engine swap in our cars for the 1st time. With that setup the exhaust and intake would still be in a realistic place. Also we half less than an inch of working area to install a tranny and engine in our bay. The other Cloud cars a little easier even though all are off the same platform

yep, you can either go with a frankenstein motor which is a 2.4block with the DOHC (420a)head... or just buy another motor from the junkyard or anywhere u can get one used and spend the money on building it up and bulletproofing it... Swapping in the 4g63 motor in is not practical at all... the turbo motor will drop right in, but you have to redo all the mounts and reweld reinforcements and move some stuff around... Its been done and at the end, it ended up costing more than a Modified GSX but he only came out with a STOCK GST kind of car... catch my drift... but the real question should be, IS MONEY A PROBLEM?! WITH ALL THE MONEY, U CAN DO ANYTHING U WANT..

Has anyone ever done this and where could I find info on this engine and info on what car has the stock 2.4 engine and the specs on it stock? What kinda power would you be looking at? Thanks
