Son wants to remove the AC from his 97 RS. This is not something I would do to a car of mine, so I have several questions. The search function didn't yield any help, but I'm sure I've seen discusssions on this before. Anyway, here are the questions.
Do you remove the entire compressor and bracket (which includes the tensioner)?
If so, can you then tension the replacement belt by pivoting the power steering pump?
Also, does anyone know the part number for the replacement belt that fits once the AC is removed?
Anything else we need to consider or know about with this modification?

Great. Thanks very much for the info. As for the average temp in summer...not my problem. If son wants to sweat it out, that's his problem. Like I said, if it were mine, I would opt for keeping the AC working, but I guess that's just an old guys opinion. ; )

Are you planning on removing the related components? The dryer/accumulator, condenser, evaporator and lines? Removing the condenser will free up a bit of air flow through the radiator. Leaving that in place I think would be a waste of the effort.
