Do I need the ECU of the same year as the car, or as the transmission. I have a 97 dodge avenger and a Transmission from a 95 manual Eclipse.

Same year as the car. you'd need a 97 MTX ECU.

I got one now Just need the clutch and Im good as a 5 speed.

haha you're in luck you can use the AFX ecu! (97 MTX ONLY)
but i guess you already found a stock one so n/m..

Note that he said AFX and not ATX. As in, the only aftermarket ECU for the 2gnt/A/S.

oh, ya, thanks. Ya, I know I can but I only spend 25 dollars on this one so I can alway upgrade later.
