my GF just got a 99 eclipse and I think there might be something wrong with it. when you are doing around 45 it will jump a little like the car can't decide what it wants to do. and if you step on it it will hesitate and then pick up speed. also when you are stoped at a light she says that it will jump a little from time to time. does anyone know what this could be I sure hope its not a fucked up trany. any input would be great.

I have a 97 rs auto, and it definitley doesn't do that. The only thing I'll get is a "bump" forward when its changing gears, kinda like bad RPM matching or someone giving it a little more gas before dropping the clutch.
I do think it's a little hesitant overall, but your situation seems like it might be a problem. I'm sure some other guys can help you.

Does it do it at idle or rolling to a stop. I cant see why it would do it at idle. Mine used to make a very severe bang when it was rolling to a stop, It only banged once but it did it every time, My 2nd gear clutch was fried. Yours might be that it isnt engaging all the way, You have to adjust the cable on the top off the tranny. If you put it into park withh the car still rolling, you would get several clicks or something like that, DONT TRY IT. But if the cable isnt engaged all the way I could slip when acelerating and not full engage the lower gear when decelerating so it would keep trying until it got the gear it there.

I hate to say it but... The little waver at about 45 mph sounds like your locking converter doing what it is supposed to do. the lag while shifting also sounds like the lag that they built into these (for old women to drive them).
also, on my car, when you stop fairly quick, the iac takes some time for the idle to come down to specs. that makes it feel like it wants to jump off of the line. but if you release your foot off of the brake, you will find that it doesn't jump. it just slowly rolls like normal.
it really sounds to me like everything is either o-k, or not that bad. IMO, you should change her fluid if you get some time and $$. it helps with the general, over-all feeling of the trans.

Mine does the same exact things, and my fluid has always been a little high. One other thing mine does almost constantly is refuse to stop... especially braking hard it won't unlock until the last few feet and then whumps down and stops hard. Passengers always get scared cause they think i'm not using the brakes until the last second. It was bad before the turbo, but oh man now that I'm beating on it...

aight the place that she is taking her car is really piising my off. The first time she took the car to the place she told them the problem and they ran injector cleaner and put a new air filter in it and said that it did not jerk any. On the way home it jerks. so she she takes it back today. she gets it serviced, and they said they flushed the tranny and refilled it but it still jerks. O and they said she needs new break pads an just ordered them without talking to her. then they tell her that when she come back to get her breaks done they are going to check her shocks because that might be her problem. this made no sense to me and made me so pissed that I don't even want to deal with it. I have a feeling that they are just making things up to try to repair unbroken stuff. taking advantage of a girl that really doesn't know about cars. I maybe wrong and somebody tell me if shocks could do anything like that. to me it makes no sense. so I guess this is what I will be spending my spring break doing trying to get her car fixed.
