This is sad. I decided to use slicks (225/45/R15) on my stage 1 hoping to break into the damn 14's, but no luck. I was running PIG RICH and my best run was:
I think i got big headed about the slicks thinking they'd do all the work for me, and just gave it all the rpm i could. I've pulled 2.4 60' times on regular 195/85/R14 tires but i'd work the rpm on my launch of course since lots of wheel spin happens. However, with the slicks i didnt really work with the tires, instead i just launched at 4k rpms and instead of holding the rpm letting the slicks grip, i floored it and it only resulted in wheelspin, but still grabbed a lot better of course than reg tires (really felt the difference).
Anywho, my best 60' was 2.317 w/ a 15.295 1/4mile time. Next time I hope to do better on those 60' times and hopefully break into the 14s. Oh, and my axels held up just fine!!

DId you heat the tires up good when you went through the water pit? I just installed my BF Goodrich drag radials on yesterday and ran them on the street and they felt good, much better than my street tires. I am gonna run next weekend at Jacksonville raceways with them on and run 16psi with some race gas and maybe turn the boost up, hopefully i can at least get a good 2.0-2.1 60ft. Practice and you will get into the 14's.

yeah, on all my runs i would do at least a 3 sec burnout on the water pit. I just gave it too much rpm after my launch, which is why i think my 60' was so bad. I was really hoping to hit a 2.0-2.1 60, because i was able hit 2.4 60' once on reg street tires, but even tho 60' wasnt what i expected, if feels really good riding on slicks. I definitely need more practice on these tires.
EDIT: has anyone on here got into the 14's on just their stage 1, as that is my goal.

damn...i put 400RWHP to my BFG drag radials and they hook...i cant believe you are spinning slicks with less than 200hp... i was pulling 2.1 and 2.2 60's with my stage 2 eclipse on street tires running 14.50's ...what kind of slicks are you using?

What was the tire pressure of your slicks when you ran them? It looks like there is to much air in your slicks in the pic. Let some tire pressure out if you didn't and they will hook a little better. People set their drag radials at around 20-22psi, i am not sure for slicks since i dont have any, but they look pretty full in the pic.

yup, 10-15psi max for full out slicks, its so the sidewall will wrinkle and absorb the launch some...you should be able to at least pull 1.9-2.0 60's with them...

thanks all, now i can't wait til the next race day. Still got a while to go, since it's not til sept 24th, but i will definitely lower the pressure to 15psi or so, and try and break into those damn 14's.
