Hy, my name is John and I write from Italy. Please, excuse me for my bad english but I have a question for you.
I have an eclipse 420NT and I want to install a turbo kit, I have read all articles on this forum but I don't understand what must I do for the Ecu.
First of all I want to work with a Low pressure's turbo but I dont' know if I must change the Ecu....
Have I change my Ecu with Megasquirt or Aem, or may I use only a piggy back as Greddy, Apexi?
Thank's :D

Welcome John! Where at in Italy are you from? For your ECU you will just need a MAP sensor fix piece, the hahn, and star kits come with what you need.

I see this Boost Controller on the Hahn'site:

Is it the fix piece?

What's the star kits? And where may I buy all this parts?

No, its a boost controler. But Mike sales the fcd that you need if you are going to piece together a kit. Send him a message if your interested, eclipse982nrRST.

Ok I send him a private message ;)

But with this fcd may I resolve the electronical's problems or I must buy a Megasquirt or Aem for Ecu anyway?

Thank's.

The only thing for a basic turbo kit is an FCD to tap into the MAP sensor with so the ECU doesn't see boost. If the ECU sees boost, it will cut the fuel back because it thinks something is wrong. The FCD can stop the voltage at a certain level so the ECU won't realize it is boosting.

If you wanted to go the next step, Megasquirt seems to be the standalone of choice for our cars. Do a search for "megasquirt" or "msns" in the search to come up with some info. And finally, welcome to the site.

Another good option would be the Hahn portfueler

To make things clear, you do NOT need any ECU modifications to run a turbo on your car. On a basic turbo system (420A), you just need to be sure you have a "fuel cut defencer" or "fcd." This is a check valve which prevents the MAP sensor* from seeing positive pressure (boost) and sending a signal to the ECU to cut the fuel.

*MAP sensor is located on the passenger side top of the intake manifold. It's a little black, plastic piece with two screws holding it onto the manifold.

Let's keep it simple, fellas.

Se non puoi dire qualcosa in inglese, posso capirti o tradurre per te. Mandami un PM ogni momento.

Anch'io vendere i FCD. Credo che i miei FCD sono il migliore. :)

Some people say me that if I use a low pressure turbo I don't need to change pistons, valves and others.
It's true?
