I have a 99 eclipse with 420a motor. Car has 82K miles and i have all the parts to turbo but im scared im going to put all this money into a stock motor then have something go real wrong with it for example blow the engine. Is it worth it to do this to an older motor like mine? Someone point me in the right direction. The car would be running under 8 psi on stock internals.

Do a compression test if everything checks out, do some general maintenance to make sure the vehicle is up to par then go ahead and boost it. You will not be guaranteed that you won't ruin your engine, due to user error or some unknown factor, but there are plenty of people that have boosted their 2gnt's with over 100k on the clock including myself.

x2 After much research and seeing many cases of 10 year old 420a's getting boosted I am on the verge myself, and pretty confortable with it. If the car runs good doesnt leak and has good compression I say go for it.

I think it will be fine. The mileage isnt really that high at all. As long as you are using reliable parts (a good wastegate is important), keeping up with regular maintenance, and run low boost, you should be fine.
Make sure you also have gauges to monitor things like A/F ratio(go for wideband if youve got the $), and oil/water temps.

I am at 137,XXX miles and am boosting fine. Also, I am using an XS Power External Wastegate and it works perfectly fine and it's not known to be the greatest thing in the world. Just do your research on your parts and you should be fine.

144k miles here. If its gonna break, its gonna break. I've seen some of the safest setups blow an engine and some of the WORST setups last for years.
