i searched and theres never really a good awncer besides, fast spool on a small turbo, ok well i have a s16g, a small turbo with fast spool, i can get it to blow off while reving? when i rev my boost goes to 0 and thats it no matter how hi i rev, (up to 5k) im runnin a RFL with 1 washer in it i just want to be able to blow off while reving sometimes, and thru searching ive found id need to add washers if it were doint it while reving, but it woint do it while reving, ne 1 know etf? im running 6 psi

Before you go any further answer this question:

Why do you need your blow off valve to go off at idle?

Free reving is not good for the motor, quit before you blow it up. The motor does not build boost until under a load therefore if there is no boost then there is no for the blow off valve to blow out positive charge pipe pressure.

i dont want it all the time, i just want it sometimes, ie when i dont want it, ill put more washers in the bov. why do some have a load in neutral and some dont then? is it b/c of my fmic?

Huh? No, an engine doesn't have load on it unless the transmission is in gear, putting power to the wheels. If it is not trying to turn the wheel/wheels then there is no load.

And why won't a turbo build pressure in neutral? If exhaust gasses are spinning the turbine wheel then it should be compressing air, I believe you have your facts wrong, otherwise a 20psi drag launch wouldn't be possible without an anti-lag system (mis-firing system for you Initial-D types)

Just install the BOV per manufactures recommended specifications and don't fuck with it, you're trying to draw attention to yourself in a way that is unbecoming of a 2GNT'r.

anti-lag is not nessarly a mis-firing system, it delays the spark to ATDC (sometimes up to 40 degrees of retard) so that the ignition can occur when the exhaust valve is open and the expanding gas and burning air-fuel mixture explodes in the manifold thus helping to keep the turbo spooled.

As for the guy who wants to have his BOV vent when he free reves (sigh...) refer to the post above.

Then what is a mis-firing system? I'm just a little confused as I didn't know there was really a difference.

keith your are right. Antilag is a "misfire system", sort of.

But I think you wanted to look at a launch control system. Not an anti lag system.

Things dont explode...if they do, then you have problems.

Most n/a to turbo cars I have seen wont really boost when free revd. It will at most maybe build 1 psi. Maybe they have just not had them installed correctly then?

Sigh...this is a doozy alright. Well, the less spring tension the BOV has, the easier it will be to be opened with the pressure differential when you free rev it and slammed the throttle plate shut. Lessening your spring tension is about all you really can do to TRY and get this to happen better for you.

My car does it with my GT28RS, though I never do it simply to do it.

And so you know...when the evo guys do it, they're just as lame. Those are the guys that are trying to say "I pay 580 a month on my car so look at it so I feel cool".

hahaha true.. i just wonderd why pretty much it makes sence that ids due to load, but its still odd that some 420a's do it with the exact same setup.

Ok. Got it.
Here's what you do:

Take the turbo off the manifold.
Take the manifold off the block.
Remove all of the intake piping and intercooler, etc.
Re-install stock parts.
Sell turbo parts to someone who knows what the hell they are doing.

Buy this:

Be happy blowing off whenever you want!

How do I get my GT-28R to stop making my RFL go off when just revving it up?

wtf.. i know what im doing, evos blow off at me all the time i just wanted to be able to fucking do it once.. its installed correctly now.. but it makes no sencse why another 2gnt boosted the exact same way will do it and mine wont.. dam. im not asking so i can get asshole responces. i know its ricer, and im not keeping it that way, i just want to know why..its not like im asking to make a bov sound with no turbo,,,

Mine blows off when I'm free-reving at higher rpms. Not as loud as when I'm driving, but you can definitely hear it.

Its funny. Dont ask this question here and you wont get responses like theese.

Hell, I can pull it off on my Star T3T4 setup with an rfl, Its a pain when your trying to keep the sleeper look.

Check your exhaust manifold for leaks.
Cheack your intake pipes for leaks.
Check your plumbing to the BOV.

The car wont beuild boost unless there is enough load or the turbo is small enough or likes to spin ( Oem's tend to undersize theirs).

okay, theoretically, you can get a BOV to go off while revving without a load. If you rev in high RPMs, the turbo WILL spool. Yes a spooled turbo will build pressure IF there is a load, but in the scenario where you let go of the peddle quickly and the throttle plate slams shut - you've created a restriction to the air that the spooled turbo is producing. Pressure will go up, and thus the BOV will blow. comprende?
