Okay i just want to say im retarded and need help building my own turbo kit the only thing ive got is a safc2 and thats it ive got a few ??? 1st
ive seen alot of diff turbo manifolds for our cars that would set the turbo at all diffrent angles i was wondering if thats alright can you pipe it where it doesnt matter?what does a wideband do and do i need one?

You don't necessarily need a wideband to get a turbo to work on your car, but if you plan on running more than 8 psi, I would highly suggest gettting one.

Go to the main site wiki and look into the turbo section of the car modifications section. There are some good writeups to read to get an idea of what you will be needing. Also, please try searching next time. That's what it's there for. This type of question has been answered a million times and all you need to do to get your answer is just search a little bit.

^^Also true. It's not needed, but it's highly recommended, also, if you get one like the zeitronix, you can get a boost sensor, egt probe, and a few other add ons and monitor everything with just the zeitronix display. Of course that will run you over $500 which looking at your post in the FS section is near half your current budget.


Another thing, you don't need the SAFC. On our cars it is fairly useless, because you cannot adjust fuel when in boost, so it pretty much just helps clean up your idle a bit with larger injectors i.e. 440's/450's. If you only have 1200, I would sell it and use that money for the rest of your kit.

I'd start by picking up either the star manifold for sale in the FS section by eclipse982nrRST or getting a treadstone manifold on ebay. These will also require you to get an external wastegate. You can also try and get a hahn racecraft manifold, remember that the manifold you get will depend on the turbo you can bolt up to it. The HRC manifold isn't flanged for an external wastegate, so you would be looking into turbos that are internally gated.

Then I'd pick up an ebay intercooler kit, they seem to have good reviews. (Or there was a star FMIC and piping kit for sale a little while ago, I don't know if the guy ever sold it)

THen you're going to have to decide on your turbo

Next big decision is fuel system. You can go as simple as a 12:1 FMU and walbro 255lph pump or choose amongst a number of other things, sfmu, portfueler (expensive), MSnS (would require a ton of reading first, so I wouldn't recommend it to you yet) larger injectors etc.

Once you figure that out you can pick up an already made downpipe, or have one fabbed up at a local shop

Then decide on your gauges

edit: almost forgot you will need either a missing link or an FCD

If you do not know what how to build a turbo kit together, I am guessing your not going to know how it all installs and your going to pay a butt load for a local shop to install something like this. You must also realize, modding your engine like this, your car will have lots of risks and sometimes, even, a lot of problems. A lot of us turbo guys run into a lot of problems and if your not mechanically inclined enough to even diagnose your problem a LITTLE bit, then I would highly recommend you to waiting before you turbo your car. You probably dont know whats all involved money wise and what not. The last thing you want it to slap this turbo kit on just because either a, you wanna go faster or b, you just wanna listen to a BOV ( :) ) and end up blowing your motor then having to fork out more money to either build a new one or buy a replacement.

I would personally recommend you to buying the Book pictured above. I even have the book I will sell you for $25 shipped.

Trust me, when I was newbie on this board like you are, I had no idea what I was doing. I am not ashaimed to admitt it. I just wanted to go faster...I put a turbo kit on, blew my motor and then was fucked. I took everyones advice from this board, bought the book pictured above, took a night, read the whole book, then I knew the whole concept of turbochargers and how everything works together. Unfortunately, I had to learn the hard way blowing my motor, but sometimes, I am glad it hapened, mainly just because of the beastly engine I have built myself at this point.

Anyway, I could blab all night, good luck with your decisions and dont jump into anything too soon that you do not know what your doing please.

its a great start and after reading up on all the info here you'll be able to upgrade and have more fun.

Take their advice. *Or you could go the easy route and just remove your Catalytic Converter from your exhaust and mount a T3/T4/T5hyb67 Turbo in its place. This will suck the exhaust out of your car faster with no need for tuning, thus giving you massive FMIC power worry free. ...Thats what i did...AND I OWN Chrysler Town & Countries ALL DAY LONG!
