I am getting ready to start my turbo build, but have a quick question...I currently own 2 420a engines, one from a '96, and one from a '98. the one in my car is the'98. My question is, Will the block from the 96 work with the head from the 98? If it does I will use the build the 96 block, and when i get it done just swap the head and all the rest of that good stuff. I just hate having to have my car undrivable for my whole build, so using this other block would mean i would have a car untill it was time to put the new engine in. Thanks, Sorry so long.

They are the same. The only real differences are in the 95 block where the main bearings are notched differently. I would suggest getting everything decked though. Just my humble opinion.

correct and incorrect...so to speak

EARLY EARLY 95s had the weird bearings best thing to do is crack it open and look or post pics so we can tell you or even better use the search, the heads are identical

now you will need to use the sensors for your car tho, ie. if your car is a 95 and the block is a 98 you need 95 sensors. just trying to add that little tidbit

Both blocks are the same. Your 96 block will work ust fine go ahead and build it then just make sure to swap your head, use new timing equipment, and aswap out all your sensors.

The two above cant read very well. 95 is irrelevant since you done have that block.

I can read just fine, sir. If you bothered to read my post you would find that the first sentence is "They are the same", the same answer you just gave. The only reason I mentioned the 95 block was just in case he needed to know it life if he needed to use a 95 block down the road. I'm not here to piss in your Cheerios. I'm just saying that I'm not an idiot.
