98664, need fcd Posted by gsgoingT, Dec-22-06 06:56 PM
hi, i'm kind of new to all this, i have 99gs and i'm putting 16g big turbo in it, i was doing some research and found that i need missing link or FCD, but most people say to go with FCD, also i understand some people on this forum know how to make custom FCDs. How good are they? Well i need one so pls let me know where to get one. thx

First of all, the missing link is an FDC...its just a mechanical one rather than an electrical one. Lot of people use it including myself, and it works good. It just mounts between your MAP sensor and Intake manifold.
I've heard that the home bulit one works well to. I bult one but never tested it. Last I knew the page will the instructions was taken down though. Someone may have the instruction...hopefully they will chime in.
Good luck and welcome to the board!

IIRC eclipse982nrRST makes them. PM him for details otherwise a Synapse Missing Link works great. The only real problem I had with them was the vacuum to boost transition under part throttle gave me a very slight, split second hesitation but that could have been attributed to other things.

i think the homemade fcd works way better than the missing link . it always hesetated at boost transition and the little filter kept popping out .after that i made a homemade one and never had a problem again.

Exactly. I personally dont like the Missing Links either. The vac/boost transition is sketchy sometimes it felt like, and I always had problems with that filter popping out and then causing a leak.
In my opinion, FCD's are the way to go, wire it, tune it, and good to go.
