the machine shop is calling and asking me this. I thought it would be in the instructions.
so without me looking at a piston, can someone explain which way they should be fitted to the rods?

The side with the JE stamped on it. (On the inside of the piston)
The JE's for our application are actually perfectly symmetrical, but JE's official word is just make sure all the JE logos are facing front for balance.

Yep... it doesn't matter which way you install them.
