Poll question: 160k on engine.wanna go turbo. what should i do?

I say you do a compression test and if that looks good just slap it on if you really want to do it. If you planned on rebuilding anyway might as well do the turbo first.

Agreed. No sense in rebuilding a stock motor when chances are good you'll blow it up anyway ;-) 5PSI never stays 5PSI for long.

but if i turbo the car then get the kit from howell, wont i have to go threw the trouble of taking the turbo kit off and breaking in my internals. then putting it back on. shouldnt i build kit first. break in then ad turbo? tia

I don't know of a single person who has actually removed thier kit to break thier motor in. It doesn't help - you should drive normally, to get the engine used to the abuse it'll take in the future.

All 4g6 guys i've ever read posts from don't take thier turbo off to break in a new motor - why would we?

i was just sayin cuz wouldnt lil metal shavings get in the turbo? but i guess thats true. they dont take theres off. so i guess ill save up for turbo then save up for the kit from howell. how much hp do u think that the engine will be able to handle after break in from turbo and rebuild? sorry im sure thats been asked quite a few times. thnx again

With the right tuning after a good rebuild - as much as your butt can handle. ;-)

I can't really throw out a number. Nobody has seemed to find a limit after a rebuild with proper fueling and tuning.. It comes down to cost, i guess. How fast are you willing to pay for?

lol, I plan on pushing around 450 at the wheels in the future

Bill's RS makes 508fwhp so far. Len is running 9's @150. I think it will handle as much as you need if done right :)
