97970, 3 inch downpipe clearance
Posted by RyaN95i4, Oct-28-06 11:08 AM
I tried the search, but couldnt find what im looking for.

Im looking for pics of different 3" downpipes, specifically, the first couple turns.

The problem: Im using an HX40 turbo with an HRC manifold. This puts the turbo outlet ~1"-1.5" further to the passenger side than the s16g.

Were having trouble coming up with clearance for both the power steering and a/c compressor.

What is the tightest radius 3" bend available (link?)?

Tightest 3" bend? for a mandrel bent pipe it is typically a 3" radius at the very least
To make it tighter you need to either get crush bent pipe or cut sections out of the 3" bend you do have and weld it back together to make it smaller radius.

Or you can just take out the A/C, either way you're going to have a very extreme bend. I've got the HRC 3" downpipe and it hits the A/C lines.

thats what I did, even though I pulled my AC a long time ago, it would clear.

pie cut it and make sure you backpurge all the welds

If the turbo sits over an extra inch I don't see how you could keep it.
