97796, Boost sensor and Zeitronix wideban? Posted by JustOne, Oct-15-06 12:33 PM
I know they sell boost sensors as an option for the Zeitronix wideban but I was wondering if anyone has hooked up any other 3 wire boost sensors up to the Zeitronix unit?
I have two right now and I dont want to add a third if I dont have to. The two I have hooked up are for the Crane unit and my DFI, both are the same style, read up to 3 bar and are both 3 wire (power, ground, signal).
Any thoughts?
Thanks Brian

I believe any sensor will work. I'd be a little concerned about splitting the output of any sensor to two devices, but I don't see why it wouldn't work, it just wouldn't be exactly precise.
Personally, I would contact them at sales@zeitronix.com and ask. If you can give them your exact boost sensor model numbers they most likely will know off the top of their head.
The guy who owns Zeitronix is a DSM electronics god, so I'd trust anything he says. :)

unless you are able to change the parameters in the program for the boost sensor range you will have problems unless the sensor you have has the same PSIa range and min/max voltage. a 2bar sensor maxing out at 5volts and a 3bar sensor maxing out at 5 volts will both look the same on the zeitronix unit. Whatever it was set to read at 5 volts with 'their' sensor is what it would read with the 2bar and 3bar. I dont know if this explains it well enough but hopefully someone can find better words to explain how a map sensors linear voltage curve works.
If anyone knows if you can change these parameters in the zeitronix software, let me know because I am getting my zeitronix setup in 3 weeks also.
