my fmu came frome vortech with no instructions and i put it where the where the winshield squirter resevoir was and have noticed most guy put them back by the tank will it work how i did it?

most put the fmu back by the tank and sfmu in the front, but that is also for the people with the late model fuel system (96-99) If you have the early fuel system, then you have a return line and the stock fpr off of your fuel rail and putting the fmu in the front of the car will make more sense. If you have the late model fuel system then most people put it in the back this way they only have to run a vaccum hose under the car instead of a fuel line.

ok thanks i have a 98 i havent run fuel trought it yet this is how i did it is it right i put the imput from the pump to the side fitting and the line to the rail in the center is that how it is supposed to be and or where does the return line come from. i would like to leave it if possible because it took me 5 days of hunting to find all the fittings to make hard lines to work.

sorry to ruin all your hard work, but that's not where it goes. You have to go under your car back by the tank and find your stock fpr. it is on the supply line that runs up to the fuel rail. On the fpr, there is a rubber hose that runs right back into the tank. You want to put the fmu on that rubber line. It should go fpr to side port on fmu then from the top port on the fmu back to the tank.

This is for removing the fpr when installing an sfmu, but it will give you an idea of what everything looks like underneath there


Where it says "stock rubber return line from fpr" is where you want to place the fmu. Then you have to run a vaccuum line under the car and back to the fmu.

kinda. im just wanting to know if i should mount mine in the same spot as his in his picture cause i have a 95. Also i havent bought mine fmu yet, should i get the one with 1/4" barb fitings or #4 SAE fittings. (what are #4 SAE fittings?)

1/4" barb fittings make it easier to connect to the stock rubber lines. There's really no need to mess with other fittings unless you plan on completely re-doing all your fuel lines, which hardly makes sense with just an FMU.

im just gonna be hooking up my fuel system right now. When i install my fmu i am not going to need to connect the vac. source right? because the fuel pressure doesnt need to be increased since no boost is going to be present. Correct?

I suppose... but why wouldn't you connect a vacuum source anyway?

well im gonna just have my fuel system hooked up for a week and then im gonna throw everything else on. Is there really any reason to connect the vac. source if im not going to be boosted?

There's no reason to connect a vacuum line right now other than you're going to have to do it eventually anyway. It won't hurt anything either way.

Like Paul said, might as well hook up the vacuum line. It will make no difference besides make another step to do later.
