Ok,
Finally worked out all the bugs in my turbo. Drove it for the first time today about 3 miles. I noticed that the fuel liked to die off when boost got above around 5psi.
I figure that is a fuel problem. I have 24lb. fuel injectors with a 255 walbro, and an 8:1 FMU. I think that my injectors might be the weak link there.
Anyhow, more concerning, I noticed that my temp kept rising. I figure that it was because now it is cooling the turbo as well, and maybe the overall temperature was higher. But it slowly kept rising. This sucks, and I don't seem to have a water leak anywhere. The water pump and thermostat are brand new. I have my supply line for the turbo coming off the front of the thermostat housing. I drilled and tapped a hole for it, then put a hose fitting on it. Then split the heater hose line and tapped into it for the return.
I feel like the routing of it is satisfactory, but not sure why she keeps getting so hot. Woundering if any of you out there have and useful tips.
Also if you are water cooled, please let me know how you ran your hoses.

Couple things. Need to take steps. make a list, lol.

1st of all, fans running?
Fluid full, no air gaps or bubbles in the system?
Thermostat installed in the right direction?
If I were you I would disconnect and block off the turbo water cooling hoses to see if that is even the reason its overheating. If not, then you can rule that out and you have bigger problems.

From there you can determine if its the turbo or just something else.

If you tapped of the thermostat housing then some of the cooling liquid is not getting to the radiator, its just getting sent back to the system even hotter. Well thats my educated guess,since the flow goes from the thermostat to radiator then back.

Would this cool the engine/radiator/turbo more, than with one fan.

Me & My step dad, did that on my old ride with a toggle switch but the wires burnt up the switch so, I twisted them together. It was wacked!

I only had 1 fan running and the turbine was watercooled and I only noticed a 5-10 degree change on my logger. It never got over 205 :shrug

I have only one fan on my radiator, my turbo is water cooled, 180* thermostat, 90*+ weather here, and it sits right where it suppose to, 180* (controlled by the megasquirt fan output).

yeah, thats great. You all have the water flowing to the radiator and let it and the rest of the components do their job.

I have a seperate cooler for the turbo between the radiator and the a/c condensor. It is about 1/4 the size of the radiator, but aluminum.
I crimped the turbo cooling line, and the car runs without getting hot now. So that was definetely the problem.
I have an aluminum radiator on the way along with that I think that I am going to get a larger cooler for the turbo.

The other problem I am having is that I can't seem to get into WOT or into much boost at all without the car jumping around and dying more or less. I think that I may not be getting enough fuel. I have a pretty good fuel setup but I have 24lb injectors. Not really sure of their flowrate however...

I think I may invest in a set of injectors soon. I don't really know what else could be the problem.

I have my voltage reg. set at ~4.65v for the map signal.

Don't really know how else to get rid of that.

So, who all has pictures of their water cooled turbo? The way the lines are ran of course...

I figured that... I've looked at several diagrams that people have posted, I was just wondering where the put the inlet water line... I figured the return should be on the lower water pipe... I have an external wastegated 20g... LOL

Here is how I did mine.

So you can run the return and the inlet off of the lower water pipe? If so, that helps out a LOT

Heh, I wonder if that is even flowing any coolant through your turbo or if it's just sitting in it.

I did mine so it HAS to flow through it.

Yeah, it flows. I have a ball valve in the line that bypasses the turbo. I keep it closed all the time. I put it in there just incase there wasn't enough water flow going through the -6 AN lines on the turbo to keep the heat hot enough in the winter. It does how ever flow enough with the valve close. So I will be removing the bypass line and valve sometime when I have a chance.

Just needed to put a heat shroud around the turbo. Turns out the engine bay got so freakin' hot from the turbo that the heat was being sucked up by the radiator.
Heat shroud fixed the problem.
In fact with that extra cooler, the car actually runs cooler now. Takes about 15miles or so to heat up enough to even get the thermostat open...
