96968, Question about specific turbocharger... Posted by clipse_2005, Aug-27-06 02:06 PM
Has anyone had any experiences with this particular turbocharger that these guys sell off of ebay. I have never heard anything good or bad about these guys, I have searched but haven't really gotten any info about them...

the price worries me. 200.00 for a real garrett hybrid turbo? I doubt it.
Their warrenty policy sucks. If the part is defective you pay a 10.00 handling fee and eat the shipping. Come on, thats poor customer service.
Personally if your going for cheap, be patient and buy a used turbo for 100.00-150.00 more and get something you know will work.
The specs on the turbo are very similer to the Star turbo. That turbo goes for about 300-350 used in great shape. Be patient. Or get a Hahn turbo used for 200-400 depending on model.
Thats my advise bud.

I agree, usually price can tell you what kind of quality you are buying.

I figured it was probably a very cheap turbo but I was wondering if anyone had any first-hand experience with it. Thanks for the info though I appreciate it. I'll be patient, I'm looking for either a t3, t3/t4 or a 16g. I've been looking all over the place with no luck in my price range which is right around $300

Anyone else ever dealt with Spooled Motorsports? I read a little bit on that site and everything seems legit. Can anyone enlighten me on their experiences with them?

www.cheapturbo.com worked for me. Check them out. the guy is pretty knowledgable there. I forgot his name but he knew about the 420a and gave me input on a relatively quick spooling trim for my car.

cheapturbo is AWESOME they are the best legit garrett dealer on the internet
this thread you linked to in the first post, those are ssautochrome/xspower/no branded garret turbos. according to a few people I've heard from, they are real garrets, but they all failed garret quality control and so are sold extremely cheap because they probably will not last.
