Hi I have a homemade FCD that I bought off a member on DSMtuners. I need help installing it into the car. I have a 1999 gs eclipse with turbo. My map sensor has 3 wires, yellow/black tracer,
Green/yellow tracer, and a black/green tracer. On the FCD i have 5 wires. One says 12volt, one is ground, one says 5v one says, To MAP and the last one says to ECU. Does anyone know which wires go where?

I understand the 12v and ground but i dont have schematics for the MAP and what the wires are can anyone tell me?

You should have just gotten the FCD i make which only has 3 wires on it, and its ALOT easier to install.

Anyway yours will go like this:

Cut the MAP signal wire in half (yellow/black). The wire coming from the MAP sensor is the "To MAP wire" the other half leading to the ECU is the "ECU side."

Ground is the Black/green MAP wire.

5V is the Green/Yellow wire.

And for the 12v wire, I guess you could just wire that to the battery or any other 12v source for power.

In my opinion, send it back to him and buy mine, only takes about 2 mins to install.

Sounds like you got one from Velociapaola. I think his uses 12v in his. That design is overkill.

I think yours was alot cheaper too. So is the one I got BAD? does it work?

it works fine and Paul did a lot of work to make it as accurate as possible. It will work fine but you will need to run a 12v wire to it or install it right by the ECU.

The one that Mike and I have used for 2 yers now just simply taps into the 3 wires at the sensor or at the ecu. There is no cutting of wires needed. You simply adjust the potentiometer to match our voltage point and your good to go. Paul Argues the 3 wire alters the map signal but I can prove it doesnt with my scanner.

So what is the best way to tune it? Should i blow into my MAP till it reads 5v then tune the potentiometer till it reads 4.7? Any suggestions on for tuning this FCD would be helpful.

basically. tune to 4.60v. If you hiccup at all tune it just a tiny hair. What i noticed with mine is that when set in the summer, fall it needed to be tweaked just a tiny bit then I never had to touch it again.

Yeah I heard about tuning it in fall. Do you have to turn it up or down in fall? Can the voltage ever be too low? If I have this thing tuned right, it should never hiccup right? or will it still do it a little?

You MIGHT have to lower the voltage just a tiny hair and yes you can lower it too low. Only go as low as you need to, no lower.

I am saying he should bought one from me, the ones that I made because they are A LOT easier to install and less confusing.

I never even opened yours up to see what was inside.

I got the info from a search on google like a year ago, never even toook the install instructions from fwdmopar.com Chris.

I try not to bicker, but Chris always has to try to be the head of everything and make smart ass comments about everything.
