96841, Misfire problem

hey guys i have a misfire problem, at first i thought it was the MS because when i had the problem i was at the track and i increased the numbers in my VE table to run a little cooler and i think i increased the numbers too much which added too much fuel casueing the backfire/misfire when around 6k rpm. Well then i get back fro the track and i change my VE table back to normal and im crusing and when i floor it im getting the misfire again and my CEL blinks, which i think means misifre. Well i thought it was only a high rpm thing until just a few days ago, i going to race somebody and i stepped on it in 1st and CRAZY popping, like real bad CEL blinked again, i was like wat the fuck, and i looked in my rear view mirror and crazy misfire/backfire smoke. So now it seems to do it when i florr it around 3k and past, and its crazy misfire real bad popping, but the thing is if i dont florr it it drives perfectly fine, i can take it past 3 and it will be fine only really when i floor it. Just wondering wat it could be, i did a search and it could be ignition is not the lighting the fuel, or exhaust valve stuck open possibly, MAP sensor bad could be, just wondeirng wat u all think

what are your plugs gapped at? Had this same problem and basically the spark was getting blown out. Regap to .030 and try it.

wat were ur plugs gapped at when you had this problem, cuz mine didnt seem to be gapped that far off to cause a misfire/backfire this bad. and did yours actually backfire, like loud popping?

mine were at .040. It felt liek a real bad miss and the car did buck from it. It wasnt once or twice but a series of what started as hiccups and got worse quickly.

I have a similar problem, but I have an ignition system that recommends my plug gap be at 0.065". Should I regap to 0.030" and see what happens? What will this do to my ignition system if I have the gap that small? Isn't a larger gap better?
Would like to clear up this issue asap. Please help!

Also, never got a response as to whether or not that regapping thing worked for you. Did it?
