96246, Problem with turbo install...radiator Posted by Madoc05, Jul-16-06 03:27 AM
Last year I replaced my radiator with an OEM or I has told was an OEM radiator. Back when I put it in I did notice that it was about twice the thickness of the previous one, now when I put the turbo manifold on with a 16g turbo it doesn’t clear the fans. It is a HRC turbo manifold. Anybody else have this problem, also what radiators could I use that are direct replacement, what is everybody using?

I replaced my stock MTX radiator with an OEM-style replacement from radiatorbarn.com and it is thicker since it is designed to replace both MTX and ATX radiators (ATX thicker of course). With a turbo and FMIC I wanted the extra cooling capacity anyway.
I have the standard Hahn kit and it is tight but it fits.
Note: I do have to pull the radiator out to take the turbo on and off the mainifold. Have you tried that?

I have an ATX radiator, and my HRC s16g turbine housing just barely (maybe 1/4") misses the factory fan housing.

I have a 20G on the HRC manifold and a Fluidyne radiator (way thicker than stock) with a stock a/c fan and it only rubs a little. I'll be replacing it with a slimline fan soon. When I had a 16G and the stock radiator I don't remember it ever rubbed :shrug

I have a STAR turbo kit with a T3. I run a fluidyne radiator with SPAL slim fans.
The stock fans did not fit with stock radiator.

Yep I've got the HRC manifold and a 20G, I run the radiator barn radiator. It is a tight fit, but it does fit.
