When a new person asks this question, invariably, an established member will say something to the effect of, "This has been discussed eleventy-billion times. Use the search." What is the all too common response to this question? "I did, butthole. I searched a long time and I didn't find the answer I want. If you don't want to help me, then don't reply."

Well, ladies and gentlemen, we're going to do something about that. We're going to see if we can't make a game out of it while we're at it.

Let's settle this thing once and for all, shall we? If we're going to tell people something has been discussed a bazillion times, then let's prove it. If they can't find enough information to assure them that this is not something they want to do, then let's find it for them.

Get out there and find every instance you can find of this question being asked. It doesn't matter if you find the info on 2GNT, DSMtuners, DSMtalk, DSMsource, Allpar, AutomotiveForums, or in your local newspaper's website - find it and link it in this thread.

There are only three "rules" for this thread.

1. Only one link per post and only commentary about that link in that one post. This is not a thread for conversations about how stupid someone was or whatever happened to so-and-so. Post your link and, at most, a brief description of anything noteworthy in that link.

2. Use the following syntax so that your link doesn't scare anyone off. Newbies are scared of the search because they get so many threads at once. This will also help to make sure people aren't posting duplicate links. Make the link simple by using this format. (Replace the <> with [])

I hate to be a rebel but I know of a mechanic that can do it for relatively inexpensive. He has done it before, I have seen pictures. If I come across the guy again I will try and steal a picture or two.

No Joke there are guys who do swap! One guy wanted to charge me 5 grand and I know of a Mistu shop woman's son did it for 10 gezz.
I'd say 5 is slightly above fair price when you weigh the pros and cons of buying and rebuilding a GST "IF" it is done right with nooo problems down the road. At least ya know how bad ya suspension system etc.. has been abused if ya go with the swap.
I would more than likely not do it in California only because the ECU/Smog systems on our cars are so fickle :( Although it is legal.

Next time I stop by this guys shop or I find his buiness card I'll post his phone number up.

nah, I'd still buy a GST/GSX first.

evo engine and 420a have the cams on the same side its less of a pain but with few mods on the engine bay you can have a 420a shell running the 4g63 motor

Yes, but an Evo drivetrain will still set you back quite a bit, and converting that transaxle to FWD is a serious PITA, or you can source all the AWD crap from a GSX with a custom rear diff ratio...

Oh, wait, you can still buy a GSX for cheaper.
