So I decided to put my egr back on when the nice man at the inspection station failed me for not having the metal pipe installed.

With the portfueler the pipe is now not long enough but the best remedy is to cut the pipe right by the throttle body where it is straight.

Lowes has a steel spacer made by Hillman that measures 5/8 X 7/8 by 1 1/2 inches.

It fits perfectly. It is a good tight fit over the top of the EGR pipes and allows for 1/4 inch overlap over the top of both halves of the egr piping.

A little JB weld to hold it in place until I can get to a proper welder and good to go.

Hope this info helps someone to not go through the trial and error that I did to get the egr back on after a portfueler installation.

Good info for those that might need it. What was hahn's remedy for that? anything? cut and weld in a new section?

Anyway, get that sucker welded up pronto. Send it to me and I can weld it up for ya. I welded my EGR tube way shorter for my new "fresh Air EGR Mod." Ssshhh secret project. Its been working for a while now.

Hahns remedy is use a block off kit or weld in a spacer. They just dont give a recommended size of spacer.

If the inspection station wouldnt have failed me for not having it I would have left the block off on.

Maybe you haven't thought of this yet. But if you're only failing because of having the metal plate there then try/do this.

Leave the EGR block off plate and bolt the EGR on top of it (might need longer bolts). Run the pipe back to where it should go but keep the block off plate on the back on the intake manifold. If its a little off hack the pipe where its not normally visible and just put a rubber hose on it to connect it (just for looks). Not like there are any exhaust gases going through it.

Just a thought. Call it the phantom EGR.

I thought of doing that but for what little good it did having it off I might as well have it work. Besides the water injection keeps the intake clean so its not like I have to worry about crud buildup.
