I am thinking of buying the setup for a manifold like GSGoinFast has, with the Weld Els and Manifold flange. There is one problem however: I suck at welding. Does anyone know how much it would cost to have a shop weld my manifold/downpipe setup for me? Thanks.

$300-600 and make sure you get a written warranty.

If you want to get the shop to weld it for you, you will save no money, so you may as well get them to make you a nicer one just how you need it and do your exhaust and intake piping at the same time.

Initially, i think the 300-600 range is kinda high. But i guess it also depends on what part of the country you live in as well.

In my area most shops charge 60 per hour.

Yeah, I was gonna say, $300 sounds a little steep compared to what I was expecting. If I was going to spend $300 on a mani, I would buy a premade one.

Anyway I guess one of my friends dads does this kind of stuff for a living (welding and such) so I'm going to see if I could give him some money to do it.

300-600 is not high at all. Its average, most shops are around 60-80/hr. To align and weld the log style manifold will take about 4-5 hours for quality work and alignment. Once that is complete the manifold will need to be surfaced because many times the welding with distort the flange a tiny bit. if you get a shop that insists tig welding is the best bet due to tight spaces and getting inbetween the ports you are going to pay over 300. Tig takes longer than mig welding because it is more tedious style.

I have mig'ed a log style manifold and in my experience, if i were a shop and wanted the manifold to reflect my meticulous attitude and name, it would be tig'ed.

The rates around my area are about the same as that, probably right around $75 an hour.

making your own manifold is only cost effective if YOU can weld or have someone that will weld it cheap for you. If you need to take it to a welder and pay 60-75 bucks an hour then just get a cast one like the treadstone/star/hahn manifold.. because its cheaper
