Ok so I was lookiing at some of the turbo bays that are posted under another topic and it got me wondering about mine. I have a 14b that I am going to try again here in a few days to re-install and get running right. I saw some one with a 14b upside down, meaning the exhaust side was facing the driver side of the car and the filter was facing the passenger side of the car. This allowed to use the internal wastegate which was now on top. So my question is how the hell did he get that to work because I would think that the oil has to go in a certain way and come out the same. Any help on this would be great.

You can clock the turbo to rotate the three different parts as you need them.

HE means you can rotate the compressor side any way you want to.

only the compressor side is clockable?? On my old garrett, if I loosened up both rings, I could rotate the three parts (compressor, center section and turbine housing) however I needed, so that I could switch around the oil feed and drain and that.

Just for kicks and giggles I went ahead(with my 14b)and tried to loosen up it up and turn it. It would seem that it would only turn so far so it has me wondering if this person took it apart and put it back together upside down or something.

on my garret all 3 sides can turn fully around .

It might have little bumps on it that limit the range of motion it can be rotated through. You can take it completely apart, you'll probably need to hammer off the turbine side, and then look for the marks and file them down.

You can only do that safely on some turbos though, you'll have to search somewhere to see if it is okay to do to your 14B.
