first off, the manifold and downpipe looked like shit, I needed a tetnis shot just from looking at them.

its all star stage II stuff (you can now easily read STAR on the mani and 63 on the exhaust housing)

This friday I go pick up the intake manifolds (upper and lower)
then hopefully this weekend I get my car back in 1 piece and haul it though inspection, so long as Optikal gives me back my tapped oil pan

Did he outgas that manifold? From the pic, it looks like there's tons of bubbles throughout it. You're supposed to outgas iron/steel before you powdercoat it.

That STAR manifold is cast and has a very rough texture to it.

I also wanna state my camera sucks, it looks like kinda gold tinted in the pictures but its all chrome/silver like the shiny part of the downpipe

Do you have some information about the powder used on your parts? I basically was wondering if it will withstand the heat of the turbine housing and the manifold. I've read on google that there are some powders that are flat black that are able to withstand 800* F but these are not recommended on header pipes. I've personally seen my turbine housing and manifold glowing red in the past so I have to question if that will hold up. This is the reason I had my parts ceramic coated inside and out.

thats an info page from the guys website who did the work. Hes the powdercoater to go to around here, and does alot of work for www.3fastperformance.com ; a suzuki GSXR/Hayabusa company I help with.

I will post those intake pix when I have a chance to get down there and pick them up; He and I are considering offering some 2GNT parts, with a portion going back to 2gnt of course.

The guys webpage recommends ceramic coating for all things exhaust related. Just curious, your the first i've ever seen to powder coat a turbo hot side or manifold.

I dunno how to phrase this but the type of coat applied doesnt change the guys title. The powdercoater put the proper coat on the parts, as I said before, hes been doing this a long time and he knows what hes doing.

I simply asked you in my first post if you got them powdercoated or not. You responded with a link to the vendor and said "hes the powdercoater to go with around here." You still haven't answered my question, is it powdercoating or ceramic coating? Ceramic coating is usually at a pretty expensive price. Powdercoating is normally not as expensive and if this guy has a powdercoat that will withstand the heat and provide a themal barrier then I may send some stuff his way.

well Id be lying if I said I was an expert on this stuff, I would suggst droppin the guy a line and seeing whats up. Be sure to mention that you found out about him through 3fastperformance and odds are you'll get the hook up

ok from what i have been told and what i have seen about powdercoating and stuff is this. any type of heated engine component is going to get ceramic coated. there are some powdercoats that are designed to withstand high heats but more then likely if this guy did the work and has been doing it this long it was ceramic. only true way though if you are curious to find out is shoot the guy a message and tell him malenko sent you and try to get a hook up.

Hello all, I just realized the commotion going on around this site and I can explain everything!

First off, yes we did coat the turbo exhaust side and STAR Manifold with ceramic chrome. This coating acts as a heat barrier, preventing excessive heat from radiating out to near by engine parts. This cools the underhood air, it is still hot under there, but every bit helps. You do not want to coat the TURBO itself, you want this to stay as cool as possible, but the exhaust turbine side is well worth the benefit, hotter exhaust flows faster and in theory should help the engine turn the turbo faster, basically free horsepower. Each motor is different and if you are told it will increase your power by 17hp, then someone is lying to you.

Another thing, we offer the ceramic in about 4 different colors, we DO NOT USE High temperature powder coating. The highest temperature powder coating available right now, in flat black, is rated at 1300 degrees, the black we use is rated at 2000 plus. I have had many customers bring or send their parts to us that have had the high temp powder applied and it literally burned off within hours or minutes of being on the vehicle.

The picture of these parts this customer has on his car is on a rough cast part. Ceramic is a very thin coating and it shows everything underneath, the manifold would of looked much smoother with either a black or cast iron coating. Depends on what you wantthe look of, the piece can be sanded down for a smoother look. There is no outgassing in that pic, outgassing cannot happen with ceramic since it does not skin over like powder coating, and YES we know how to prevent outgassing on parts that we powder coat.
