94982, How much boost? Posted by BoostedEclipse, May-11-06 07:16 AM
Ok, I have a 97 rs-t. It has the super 16g with front mount intercooler, 2.5" mandrel bent piping, and 2.5" turboback exhaust. I just got my block rebuilt with wiseco forged pistons w/ 8:8:1 compression, eagle rods, crane arms camshafts, springs and retainers and upgraded sbi roller rocker arms. My question is will my car be able to push more than 10 psi without upgrading the injectors. I know it would be alot better to upgrade them but for the time being would I be able to push say 12 or 13 psi without damaging the injectors, or would it be to much pressure on them. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

I would not recommend running more then 10psi on your stock injectors. Plus are you on a completely stock fuel system? Have you upgraded your fuel pump?

Yeah, I have a holley fuel pressure regulator and a walbro fuel pump with steel braided fuel lines. Oh, is there any other way of upgrading the fuel injectors without buying the HRC portfueler system.

Do not push more then 8 psi on stock injectors, the required fuel pressure cannot be met. Of course you can upgrade injectors without the HRC portfueler, just buy bigger injectors. www.exileracing.com has some accell injectors. How much boost do you want to run? You have a few choices for fuel management, All of which will require bigger injectors: SFMU + S-AFC II - poor choice for tuning, but cheapest and simpler then MSnS and you will be able to boost fairly high MSnS - Fairly complicated if you do now know what you are doing, but by far the best solution for fuel managment, allows full control over just fuel or fuel and ignition if you so wish Portfueler - Pretty expensive but more of a plug and play.
Its all up to your budget, and what you think your capable of.

Also, you said your engine was just rebuilt. You are breaking in the motor correctly, right?

Do not run more than 8 psi man, you'll regret it so much. Break the motor in properly and get some Ford lightning 42lb injectors and THEN run 15-20psi all day long.
Oh you need an SFMU and SAFC plus a wideband would help too.

Buy the injector size that meets your flow requirements. You can visit corbins page or this page http://www.rceng.com/technical.htm to figure out what you'll need. Thats not a choice you can have others make for you, it depends on where you want to push things.

oh yeah, I'm going to break the car in before i through any boost at it. I was just trying to get a grasp of what I would need to boost say up to 20 psi. I just want another alternative to boosting this high without the portfueler. What sfmu would you guys reccomend?

Boost the shit out of it! Whats this break in nonsense?
Since you have a built motor go with green tops and a SFMU until you figure out how to megasquirt it, then do that.
